Master Plans

The development of major sites requires the ability to think on a grand scale and to handle issues involving the impact on the landscape, vehicular and pedestrian movement, land use distribution and the urban design strategy.

The practice has been selected by a number of national developers to prepare Master Plans as the pre-cursor for negotiations with the local planning authority and the submission of detailed planning proposals.

Projects

Premier Park, Portlaoise
The practice was commissioned by Mr. and Mrs. John Larkin to prepare a Concept Plan for a new Business Park on the west side of Portlaoise, Co. Laois in the Republic of Ireland. The site has an area of about 7ha. and is located in a strategic position close to the newly created junction to the M7 which links Cork and Limerick in the south of the country to the capital, Dublin.

The site commands the entrance to a substantial area of land zoned for Industrial and Warehousing purposes and also allows for a connection through to the Industrial Development Agency's business technology park situated to the north east. This will secure the integration of the town's main employment areas.

The Concept Plan contains a range of different sites suitable for commerce and will accommodate buildings with a combined gross floorspace of about 13,000sq.m. A major objective is to create a development of superior visual quality and a Design Code has been prepared that will ensure a unified design approach is adopted throughout.
